The area is served by 11 independent communications networks spanning over 650,000 fiber miles from major providers such as Verizon, AT&T, Cox, and Sprint/Nextel.   Innovation Research Park @ ODU is  served by a full range of voice, video, data, and internet services and is one of only a very few research parks to be part of the next-generation, ultrahigh bandwidth research network known as the National Lambda Rail.   This private optical network connects research and government labs facilities at data speeds up to 10gbs.
